Sweep: The Screenshot Cleaner
Privacy Policy
The short version: Sweep doesn’t collect any data. It reads your screenshots on your iPhone, and they never leave it. There’s no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we don’t run a server for it to talk to.
What Sweep reads
With your permission, Sweep reads the screenshots in your photo library, along with:
- their dates
- their file sizes
- whether they’re favorites or in an album
To find near-duplicates, it uses Apple’s Vision framework to work out an image “fingerprint” for each screenshot. That happens on your iPhone.
If you give Sweep access to only some of your photos, it sees only those.
What Sweep stores
Sweep keeps these in its own storage on your iPhone:
- your choices (kept, marked for deletion, or later)
- the fingerprints and file sizes
- your settings
Like any app’s data, this can be included in your iPhone’s backups, depending on your iOS settings. Deleting Sweep deletes it.
What Sweep sends
Nothing. Sweep makes no network connections of its own. We never receive your photos, your choices, or anything about how you use the app.
If you use iCloud Photos with “Optimize iPhone Storage”, iOS may download a screenshot from your iCloud account so Sweep can show it to you. That’s Apple’s own photo sync, and the image comes to your iPhone, not to us.
Deleting screenshots
Swiping only marks a screenshot. Sweep deletes nothing until you confirm in the iOS dialog. Deleted screenshots go to Recently Deleted in Photos, where you can recover them for 30 days.
Purchases
Apple handles payment. We don’t receive your name, email address or payment details.
Children
Sweep collects no data from anyone, including children.
Third parties
Sweep contains no third-party code for analytics, advertising or crash reporting, and it shares nothing with anyone.
Support messages
If you contact us through the support form, we receive what you write and the email address you give us. We use them only to reply to you. We never add you to a mailing list, and we never share your message.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
