Common questions
How do I get started?
The first time you open Just Invoices, add your business name, your name and a logo, which can be an emoji or a photo. Then choose how you get paid: Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, or cash or check. Pick as many as you like.
How do I get paid by cash or check?
Choose Cash or check. If you add a mailing address or a PO Box, your invoices say “Mail to” and your address. With no address, they say “In person payment accepted”.
How do I log a job?
Pick a client, then enter what you did, how many and your price. For the date, pick Today, Yesterday or another date. Just Invoices remembers your last job and rate for each client, so the next one is quicker.
How do I add a client?
Type them in, or add them from Contacts. Phone numbers format themselves as you type. Archive a client to hide them from your lists while keeping their invoices.
How do I make an invoice?
Review the jobs you haven’t billed yet. Add a discount (in $ or %), tax and a note if you like, and pick a due date. Then send it as a PDF or as a quick text summary. The PDF shows your payment links and a QR code.
Can I change my invoice numbers?
Yes. Invoice numbers are a prefix, which starts as INV-, and a next number. You can set both in the app’s Settings.
How do I see who owes me?
Home shows the total you’re owed. Late invoices are marked overdue, and Just Invoices writes a friendly reminder you can send.
How do I mark an invoice paid?
One tap, then choose how they paid. Your very first payment gets a small celebration.
Does Just Invoices handle my payments?
No. It prints your payment links and a QR code on your invoices, and your clients pay you in Venmo, Cash App, PayPal or Zelle, or with cash or a check. The app never sees the money.
Can I get a summary for my taxes?
Yes. In the app’s Settings, Income summary makes a PDF of everything you earned in a year. It’s handy at tax time, or for your records.
How do I add a widget?
Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Invoices. “Owed and earned” comes in small, medium and large, and the large one lists who owes you. “Earnings” is a chart in the same three sizes: touch and hold it and tap Edit Widget to show weeks, months or years. There are Lock Screen widgets too, a line above the clock and a rectangular one.
Does it sync between my devices?
Yes. When you’re signed in to iCloud, your data syncs across your devices automatically. The app’s Settings shows your iCloud status.
How do I back up my data?
In the app’s Settings, Export backup saves everything in one file. Import backup replaces everything in the app with a backup file, and you can also just tap a backup file in Files, Mail or AirDrop to open it in the app. You can export spreadsheets (CSV files) there too.
Can I bring in clients from a spreadsheet?
Yes. In the app’s Settings, Import clients from CSV reads name, phone and email columns. Common column names work, like “Name” or “First name” and “Last name”, “Phone” or “Mobile”, and “Email”.
Can I take the app’s name off my PDFs?
Yes. Your PDFs end with a small line, “Make your own invoices with Just Invoices on the Apple App Store”. To turn it off, go to the app’s Settings and switch off App credit on PDFs.
Where is my information kept?
On your iPhone, and in your own iCloud if you use it. We never receive it. The privacy policy has the details.
What do I need?
An iPhone with iOS 18 or later.
